Launceston Airport toasts busiest financial year on record as Gatty’s Bar opens for travellers

More than 1.43 million passengers made their way through Launceston Airport in the 12 months to 30 June 2025, marking the busiest financial year on record for the airport.

A total of 1,435,094 travellers flew through the airport in the 2025 financial year, including a record 101,369 passengers in June, which represents a 10 per cent increase on June 2024.

For the first year in the airport's history each month saw more than 100,000 passengers through the terminals, with five of the twelve months breaking all-time records.

From today travellers in the airport's departures hall will be able to enjoy world class views with a drink in hand with the opening of Gatty's Bar and Kitchen.

Gatty's Bar and Kitchen, named after Tasmanian aviation pioneer Harold Gatty, will provide travellers with a wide range of food and beverage choices that celebrate local flavours and producers.

Launceston Airport CEO Shane O'Hare said the financial year results highlight the demand for tourism in the state

"The strength of these numbers show that travellers are prioritising connections and experiences and are choosing Launceston Airport as their gateway for that," he said.

“Inbound domestic and international tourism along with a strong rebound in business travel have been key drivers of growth across the year.

"This is a tremendous result and a testament to the hard work of the Launceston Airport team and our airline partners.

"We've developed direct routes and onward connections that have driven strong, sustained demand from passengers which is reflected in the numbers with more than 100,000 passengers through the terminal every month along with strong load factors.

"We're so excited to open Gatty's Bar and Kitchen, with world class views and amazing local beer, wine and food it will no doubt be in demand with our travellers.

"With Liv Eat and Gatty's Bar and Kitchen now open, works will now commence on an expanded Launceston Store and the new Kanamaluka Café, both of which will showcase the best of the regions produce here at the airport.

Dominic Cain, Managing Director, SSP Australia & New Zealand said he's proud to partner with Launceston Airport to bring Gatty’s Bar and Kitchen to life.

“It’s a venue that not only honours a Tasmanian aviation legend, but also champions the region’s outstanding produce, wine, and beer, he said.

“Our goal is to make every journey better, and we know great hospitality plays a big part in that. Gatty’s Bar and Kitchen offers travellers a relaxed and elevated dining experience with some of the best views in the terminal.

“Tasmania continues to be an important part of our growth strategy, and the opening of Gatty’s marks another step in our commitment to delivering premium food and beverage experiences across the state.”
