Plan your winter escape to Launceston

Any time of year is a fine time to explore Tasmania, but the Off Season is when things get wild, weird and wonderful. It’s the time to go beneath the surface and discover the undercurrents of Launceston. Step foot into a local’s world and experience these offerings.

Tassie Scallop Fiesta

Come and celebrate the closing of the scallop season with The Tassie Scallop Fiesta. Held in Bridport on Sunday 31st July, this winter fiesta is only an hours drive from Launceston and features cooking demonstrations, live music, home baked scallop pie competition, masterclasses with celebrity chefs and food and beverage stalls.

It will be shellfish not to attend!

AgriCULTURED

Returning for its second year, the agriCULTURED event seeks to showcase Northern Tasmania’s incredible agri-food sector. Devour stories of the Tasmanian food system from paddock to plate and expand your knowledge, ideas and insights of the industry. Delivered on farms, in barns and in the city hub, the event will provide a cultural and learning experience for those willing to brave Tasmania’s freshest cool season event.

AgriCULTURED takes place 4th-7th August.

Fire & Fog

When the weather turns cold, Launceston warms up. Enjoy the crisp air, evening lights, rugging up with the Tassie tuxedo and huddling around fire pits at the inaugural Fire & Fog festival. A night of fire, food, drink and live music on Friday August 5th.

Agfest

Australia’s premier agricultural field days return once again but in its new time slot. Featuring exhibitors from across the country showcasing their crafts, machinery, food and beverage, vehicles and so much more. Catch all the action in the paddock from 24-27th August.

Whisky Week

If you’re a fan of whisky, this week-long festival is pretty neat. The showcase culminates 30 distilleries together to share their unique offerings.
