The 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games are officially underway!

As the world’s top athletes gather in Paris to showcase their skills and determination, we’re eagerly gearing up to support our Australian competitors in the early hours of the morning as they strive for greatness on this global stage!

Meet our Northern Tasmanian Athletes

Stewart McSweyn - Athletics
Heading to his second Olympics, Stewart, a highly talented distance runner from King Island, made history at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by finishing 7th in the 1500m final—the highest placement by an Australian in this event in over 60 years!

In addition to his Olympic success, Stewart holds the record as the fastest-ever Australian in the 10,000m event.

Georgia Baker - Cycling TrackOriginally from Perth, the Scotch Oakburn College alumna showed exceptional athletic talent from a young age, ultimately pursuing a career in cycling.

Georgia is now preparing for her third Olympic Games. She and her team placed fifth in both the 2016 Rio Games and the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Ariarne Titmus -Swimming
Launceston-born Ariarne is gearing up for her second Olympics, following her remarkable success at the 2020 Tokyo Games. There, she won two gold medals in the 200m and 400m freestyle, along with a silver and a bronze medal.

Overall, Ariarne has amassed a total of 24 medals in various international competitions and recently set a new world record in the 200m freestyle Olympic time trials.

Paralympic Team

Alexandra Viney - Para-rowing 
Launceston-born Alexandra Viney is preparing for her second Paralympic Games. The para-athlete has overcome significant adversity, sustaining lasting impairments in her left elbow, forearm, and hand following a severe car accident at the age of 18.

Alexandra achieved notable success at her first Paralympics in Tokyo, where she and her crewmates finished fourth in the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four event.
